>> Avis has put into place its Travel Contingency Policy that will go into effect if air travel is suspended by the U.S. government. The emergency procedures will permit a special, one-way rental policy for vehicles already on rent to provide travelers with a way to reach their destinations. Drop off fees will be waived for vehicles on rent at the time that are returned to different cities than originally provided for in the contracts. The Avis policy will be triggered if the Department of Homeland Security puts the country on a Red Alert status. (03/21/03)
