>> Starwood Hotels & Resorts will end their energy surcharge at its U.S. hotels on November 15, 2001. Starwood is last major hotel operator in the U.S. to drop the unpopular fee designed to offset high energy prices.  (08/22/01)
>> Marriott will eliminate it's temporary energy surcharge on August 31, 2001. The cut will affects about 350 hotels in 15 to 20 U.S. markets. It had implemented the surcharges of $1.50 to $5.00 per guest room per night earlier this year to offset higher energy costs.  (08/20/01)
